[used to be] Kaufmann's

Kaufmann's department store was big in the 1930's.  The Kaufmann family commissioned the famous Falling Water house by Frank Lloyd Wright.

The building was still Kaufmann's when I arrived in Pittsburgh, but was soon turned into a Macy's department store.  Today, even the Macy's is gone.  It makes me sad.  I always like that store and location.  The clock was a common landmark to meet people under.

[used to be] P.P.G. Co.

This building used to be part of the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, P.P.G. Co.  Now it appears to be a warehouse of some kind.

[used to be] Pittsburgh & Lake Erie R.R.

The proud building of the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie RailRoad is now offices and a nice restaurant named The Grand Concourse after the old train concourse that it's built in.
